Anu, Kamal win NNIPA awards
Kathmandu : Karate’s Anu Adhikari and weightlifting player Kamal Bahadur Adhikari have won the title of ‘outstanding players’ in the NNIPA Award.
The 13th edition award was announced by the Nepal National and International Player Association (NNIPA) amidst a programme at the Patan Durbar Museum in Lalitpur. Anu received the awards towards women’s category while Kamal towards the men’s category, thus bagging Rs 100,000 each.
Similarly, best players representing several 29 games were awarded Rs 10,000 each.
Likewise, sports journalist Niranjan Rajbanshi associated with the BBC Nepali service was honoured with the ‘Sports Journalism Award’ carrying a purse of Rs 25,000.
A special felicitation was offered to the Nepali National Women Football Team qualified for the second round of the Asian Qualifiers for the Olympic Women Football.
Kathmandu Metropolis Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya, Lalitpur Metropolis Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan, National Sports Council vice chair Pitambar Timalsina, National Sports Council member secretary Keshab Kumar Bista and NNIPA chair Deepak Shrestha were there to honour the players.
